Primary source: from salty or brackish water and salt-containing rocks; often referred to as TDS - Total Dissolved Salts.

Most likely: coastal areas; former irrigation plains; areas with old salt-rich formations and inland areas with poor drainage

Effect: Long-term use affects the kidney and increases blood pressure; adds a bad taste to water and corrodes metal parts of water management installations
